The Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) set at level C2 of the Council of Europe’s Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. It is taken by more than one hundred thousand people every year, in over eighty countries. Like other Cambridge English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) examinations, CAE covers the four main language skills – Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking – as well as knowledge of vocabulary and grammar, and assesses learners’ ability to communicate in English in real situations.

CPE is recognised by more than a thousand educational organisations, employers, ministries, government bodies and professional organisations throughout the world as demonstrating that a learner is approaching a standard of English similar to that of an educated native speaker.

Holders of CPE will have a level of English suitable to participate fully in meetings, write detailed correspondence and reports, read almost as quickly as a native speaker and understand abstract concepts.

Top international companies such as Coca-Cola, IBM, Nestlé, Sony, Procter & Gamble & Nokia all have employees who have taken the CPE exam.
