Who recognises CAE

The Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) is an advance examination for learners of English, set at level C1 of the Council of Europe’s Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. It is taken by more than one hundred thousand people every year, in over eighty countries. Like other Cambridge English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) examinations, CAE covers the four main language skills – Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking – as well as knowledge of vocabulary and grammar, and assesses learners’ ability to communicate in English in real situations.

CAE is recognised by more than a thousand educational organisations, employers, ministries, government bodies, and professional organisations throughout the world as an advanced level examination, which indicates the ability to use English effectively and perform confidently in social and professional situations, and in higher education.

Holders of CAE will have a level of English suitable to prepare professional correspondence, contribute effectively to meetings and seminars within their own area of work and are able to read quickly enough to cope with an academic course.

Top international companies such as Microsoft, BP, Ernst & Young, Hewlett-Packard, Johnson & Johnson & Adidas all have employees who have taken the CAE exam.
